ARE YOU PASSIONATE ABOUT MAKING A POSITIVE AND LASTING DIFFERENCE TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES?

Adopters for Adoption are looking for Family Support Workers across the UK to work on a casual ‘as and when’ basis in order to deliver our Safer Stronger Families Support programme.

Alongside your existing job and/or other commitments we would approach you to work with families in your local area in their own homes. You can decide on a case by case basis whether to accept a referral, but will need to commit to completing the full programme as required. This will involve working with the family in their home on a weekly basis following a structured programme with the use of evidence based outcomes. Visits are arranged at a time to suit you and the family, which is likely to include evenings and/or weekends.

With the skills to engage, motivate and challenge you will support family members, empower them and encourage positive therapeutic parenting.

A background in family support work, ideally with some knowledge of adoption and/or fostering you will need an understanding of the challenges of parenting children and young people who have experienced a traumatised start to early life. It is essential that you are Triple P trained and have at least one years’ experience of working with children and families, as well as a sound and up to date knowledge of safeguarding procedures. You must be able to evidence good communication, observation and report writing skills.

WE OFFER:

  • Flexible hours – these positions are on a casual ‘as and when’ basis, therefore may be compatible with family life or alongside other employment
  • An hourly rate of £8.21 per hour
  • Mileage allowance/travel costs
  • Access to training
  • Solution Focussed Brief therapy training
  • Training in the use of ‘Outcomes Star’
  • Regular supervision and support
  • Working as part of a very supportive team
  • Career development and a highly rewarding role
